Over the last few weeks I’ve used this column to update you on the progress of the Beef Capital Cares Drought Appeal Concert. Well there’s been a name change, it is now the McDonald’s Beef Capital Cares Drought Appeal Concert. On Monday morning Garry St. George, the franchisee of the Rockhampton and North Rockhampton stores, advised the McDonald’s CQ Operators would financially support this charity concert, effectively covering the unavoidable expenses involved in holding the 9 hour Stomp the Crack concert. Which means 100% of the money raised from ticket sales, auctions and raffles will be donated to the Queensland Country Women’s Association Drought Appeal. As Mr. St. George said, “This fundraising concert is a community driven initiative, as an active member of the community the CQ Operators of McDonald’s wanted to be involved and help raise as much money as possible for those affected by the drought. With QCWA allocating the money raised to Central Queensland primary producers by way of vouchers to be used in their local communities, we felt this was a worthy way for us to give back, helping those in our broader CQ community. With the assistance from our investment in the concert, hopefully tens of thousands of dollars will be raised.” McDonald’s joins a growing list of local businesses supporting the event, including Great Western Hotel, 4RO, KIX FM, WIN Television, The Morning Bulletin, Paradise Outdoor Signs, oOh Media, Screen It Solutions, i-assist, Spitwater, Mercury Digital, HIT FM, Triple M, Local Tickets, Platypus Road, CQ Production Hire, Razorback Studio, Nu-Tank, Robo’s Tyreworks, Tom Leyden Tyres & Mechanical, Koorana Crocodile Farm, and APAP Events. There would be no concert though without the performers, and the region’s best have agreed to freely perform. Eagles Rox, Velocity, TnD, Jason and the Mick, Bordaline, Jag & The Rollers, Chenai, Rhonda Janes, Brad Beasley, Gravity, Leonie Wheeler, Aristokatz, and Tony Cook are joined by the Western Australian Bradley Hall Band. The charity concert will have a music style to suit nearly everyone’s taste, from traditional country to classic rock, featuring covers and original songs. It will be a cracker of a concert. Nine hours of boot stomping music for just $29 a ticket, with accompanied children 17 years and under free. With just 12 days to go the McDonald’s Beef Capital Cares Drought Appeal Concert needs your support. Buy your tickets now through www.Rockhamptontickets.com.au and click on Stomp the Crack to help ensure the day runs as smooth as possible. This will help tremendously with catering and queue management. It is a family friendly event and the better prepared the better the experience for everyone involved. More corporate support, particularly offering items for auction or raffles is very welcome. As is sharing this event on your social media pages. Not just to encourage as many people as possible to buy tickets, but show the world that Australia’s Beef Capital does care about what is happening to the land and people across our continent and as a community we are doing something to help.
